Foodies can enjoy three different types of cuisine at this French-inspired trio of restaurants and accommodation on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture
Hyogo Tourism Bureau
Set in the bucolic landscape of Awaji Island, Auberge French Forest’s three restaurants offer different styles of cuisine to visiting gourmets, who can enjoy their hospitality overnight in the well-appointed accommodation onsite.
At La Rose, the chef’s inspiration comes from his years of training at a famous French restaurant, pairing French-Japanese fusion dishes with a carefully curated wine selection.
Grand Baobab serves French-style dishes with ingredients prepared based on the principles of Italian cuisine, showcasing the natural flavors of the local produce.
For something a little different, Prince Etoile offers traditional dishes from Spain’s Basque region, which shares a remarkably similar climate to Awaji Island, prepared with French techniques in a new fusion style.
All of the restaurants put their own special twist on Awaji Island’s seasonal ingredients, which you can savor in an atmosphere of refinement.
After dinner, retire to the comfort of your room, each inspired by those in authentic auberges and manor houses in France. Take a stroll after dark to look up at the clear starry sky. In the morning, wake up to birdsong and tuck into a colorful breakfast, featuring the chef’s special egg and vegetable-based dishes.
