A high-altitude base for exploring the Jododaira subalpine plateau and Azuma mountain range
The Jododaira Visitor Center is located at an elevation of 1,600 meters, at the halfway point on the Bandai-Azuma Skyline scenic route. It is an educational base for mountain hikers and visitors exploring the Jododaira sub-alpine plateau, with its volcanic landscape, brilliant blue crater lake, wildflowers and the surrounding Azuma mountain range.
Exhibits include photograph panels, a topographical diorama of the terrain, and displays introducing the natural history of the mountains and the plants and animals that you can discover on the trails. The central part of the building has a map of the Azuma Mountains displaying the entire mountain range. The lecture room often houses photo exhibitions on the four seasons at Jododaira and other seasonal events.
The visitor center's information desk provides advice on mountain climbing and nature observation in Bandai-Asahi National Park. The center also has a small shop that sells nature-related merchandise, books, and commemorative mountain climbing pin badges.
