Mountains, forests, coastland and islands make up this varied landscape
With its iconic mountain views, dramatic coastline and rare flora and fauna, it’s easy to see how this region has inspired Japanese mythology. Some of Daisen-Oki National Park's most magical sights include the 180 Oki Islands; Tsutenkyo Arch, a natural rock arch in the sea; and Chichi Sugi Cedar, a beautiful otherworldly 800-year-old tree.
Mount Daisen is arguably the star of the park. Its symmetrical peak draws comparisons to Mount Fuji, though its trails are significantly less crowded.
