Explore and learn in a nature reserve
The Nasu Heisei-no-Mori Field Center was built shortly after the Imperial House of Japan donated the 560-hectare Nasu Heisei-no-Mori Forest to the public in 2008. This center aims to help both scientists and the public gain a deeper appreciation of the area’s natural environment.
You will find the Nasu Heisei-no-Mori Field Center at the entrance of the Forest Recreation Zone. Paths through the zone are fully wheelchair accessible, and several lead to Komagome Waterfall. The Forest Recreation Zone is free and open to anyone to explore.
The separate Forest Learning Zone is limited to guided walks with a nature expert, which must be reserved in advance. Book one of the guided walking tours ahead of time to ensure entry.
Other activities on offer at the center include making key holders, coat hangers or even hand cream. The center is open all year round.
