A seaside base for discovering marine life on the San'inkaigan Coast

The Takeno Snorkeling Center is located on the shore of the Sea of Japan and offers an opportunity to observe the marine life of the San'inkaigan Coast. The shallow tide pools just outside the center are a delightful place to discover fish, starfish, sea urchins, crabs, octopi, and other sea creatures. The transparent water allows you to get a clear view of the vibrant marine life below the surface.

Snorkeling gear is available to rent inside the center for those who want to explore the marine life outside the rock pools. The center has dressing rooms and showers where you can freshen up after your aquatic adventure.

Inside the center, you will find colorful displays, videos and dioramas with explanations about the natural landscape of San'inkaigan National Park. Exhibits show the rock formations, marine plants, and animals that can be found in the coastal area of the park.

Takeno Snorkeling Center also hosts a variety of paid programs to educate visitors about the local marine ecosystem. In addition to snorkeling lessons, the center offers guided kayaking tours around the coastline, guided explorations of the tide pools and craft workshops. Prices for these programs vary and instruction is available in Japanese only.
