Ancient volcanic activity and bitter winters have shaped this diverse ecosystem
Each season offers a new perspective on this park's gorgeous trails. A peppering of snow-covered alpine trees adds magic to winter, while fall is alive with vibrantly colored leaves, which are particularly photogenic around Lake Towada. You can discover the park's beauty throughout the seasons via forest hikes, stargazing tours and snowmobile rides.
Its landscape is dominated by around 40 volcanoes, as well as various bubbling hot springs, earning the area the nickname "museum of volcanoes."
Towada Visitor Center offers travelers a glimpse into the park's highlights throughout each season, through exhibits and its observation lounge, where you can enjoy the park's beauty while sheltered from the elements.
