Discover beautiful nature in the foothills of the Hakkoda Mountains
Learn about the Sukayu area's plants and wildlife, and get useful information on hiking routes in the Hakkoda area at the Sukayu Information Center. The information center is conveniently located near Sukayu Onsen hot spring resort and Sukayu Campground.
The center has exhibits about the surrounding natural environment and geological history of the Hakkoda Mountains. Don't miss the projection mapping exhibition where you can watch and learn how the volcanoes of the Hakkoda Mountains were formed over a span of 300,000 years.
A walking course starts from the Sukayu Information Center, introducing some of the area's natural highlights, including nearby steaming Jigokunuma Pond and Tohoku University Mount Hakkoda Botanical Garden.
Note that the center is closed in winter.
