Lose Yourself in an Okinawan Forest at a Sustainable Luxury Treehouse Resort

360-degree Treetop views and adventure tours to the coast await

Northern Okinawa is a nature-lover’s dream, with verdant forests, cool waterfalls, bright sandy beaches, and immense biodiversity. In 2021 the area was recognized part of a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site extending from Amami-Oshima Island in the north to Iriomote Island far to the southwest.

At Treeful Treehouse Sustainable Resort, you’ll experience life in the forest from a unique perspective. Every room is an individual “treehouse” several feet off the ground. The Spiral Treehouse offers 360-degree views of the surrounding forest, while the AeroHouse is a more luxurious space. During your stay, both rooms are yours to relax in as you please. You can also explore the walking trails for some revitalizing “forest bathing,” too.

The   Treeful Adventure Tour offers an additional taste of adventure. Ride in an eight-wheeled buggy to a cape with stunning views of the ocean to the east, then trek down to the beach where you might spot sea turtles. Lunch is served at Shizogumui Waterfall, where you can even take a dip in the natural waterfall basin.

Access:  From Haneda Airport, fly to Naha Airport (about 2 hours 45 minutes). Drive from Naha Airport (about 90 minutes).

Contribution to Sustainability

The Treeful Treehouse is carbon neutral: reducing CO2 by cutting out fossil fuels, and generating enough power to operate the resort via solar panels. Water in the facility is drawn from a well dug on site and sanitized by UV light for safe consumption. The treehouse has a small floor plan, raised 1.2m off the ground to avoid disturbing the natural habitat.
